Free Kids Events – Empowering Local Children Through Sports & Education
We believe that every child deserves the chance to explore, play, and grow—regardless of their background. That’s why we’ve started offering free skateboarding and surfing events for local children in Mexico, giving them access to activities that are often only available to tourists. So far, with limited funds, we’ve been able to organize four incredible events—three skate sessions and one surf day—bringing joy, confidence, and community to kids who otherwise might not have these opportunities.
Since skateboarding and surfing (and teaching these activities) come naturally to us, we started offering these activities—usually only accessible to tourists—free of charge to local children.
In the future, We would like to expand this initiative to include extracurricular activities and educational projects, like free access to swim courses and first aid courses with a focus on water rescue. This project is designed to be long-term and sustainable.

Every time you surf and skate, you inspire the dreams of kids!

Collaboration with Refuge of Hope
Thanks to the inspiring connection with the director of Refuge of Hope, we had the incredible opportunity to organize four unforgettable events for the children under their care. These moments not only was full of laughter, courage, curiosity, and connection, but also marked the very first steps of what would later become Almar Surf & Skate.
Refuge of Hope Bucerias is a local non-profit organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable women and children in Bucerias, Mexico. With great compassion and commitment, they provide physical, emotional, and spiritual care, educational programs, food, and shelter—offering a safe environment where children can thrive.
We deeply admire their valuable work and the love they pour into each life they touch. Their team creates a nurturing space for growth and hope, and it was truly an honor to collaborate with such a meaningful project.
One story stayed with us deeply—about a 14-year-old boy, E., who participated in our activities.
As the director shared with us:
"I was talking about a 14-year-old boy E… really the nicest kid but lots of problems at school. In fact, while you guys were there yesterday you may have noticed me go in my office – his mom came to tell me he had been expelled from school for punching another boy. So he can no longer go to public school, just to our school. I really want to find some activities that he loves that keep him safe. He loves all sports – he was a natural at surfing and is good at skateboards and soccer… If there was something you guys do that we could plug him into, that would be cool. Yes he will be there everyday - we are a bit hesitant. Before he went to public school in the morning and came to us in the afternoon. Now he will be with us all day. That's a lot because he likes to bug the other kids and doesn't really like doing schoolwork. But I really like him - he's a nice kid most of the time and just needs to find his way. He has no dad, his mom works a LOT of hours trying to support the family and he is kind of lost."
Her words touched us profoundly and reminded us of why we do what we do. Almar was created not just to teach surf and skate—but to offer children like E. a path, a rhythm, a tribe, and a sense of belonging.

We are grateful for the trust of Refuge of Hope and for every child who has crossed our path.
They remind us that the smallest gestures—riding a wave, learning to balance, or simply being seen—can plant seeds of hope that last a lifetime and help with
